Fire Prevention and Safety Education
The City of King Fire Department does numerous Fire Education programs throughout the year for various age groups and affiliations. We assist the Stokes County Fire Marshal's Office with the 4th grade prevention programs at Mount Olive Elementary as well as King Elementary. We also conduct numerous programs for our local daycares and churches.
Some of the topics covered in our lessons include: Stop, Drop, and Roll; E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drills In The Home); Holiday Fire Safety; How to Report an Emergency; and the Chemistry of Fire.
We believe that it is very important to educate the children in such things as not making false calls to 911, and we also believe that our labor is paying off as the national average of false calls dropped 8.5% last year. This is just one example that makes us feel that it is important to spend time with our children. We hope that by instilling this knowledge now will hopefully last a lifetime.
To request a fire prevention program, please call the office and request to speak to the on-duty shift officer.
